An expedition that took place in 2011, headed by Sonia Harmand and Jason Lewis, uncovered the oldest stone tools known to date. They found a number of 3.3-million-year-old stone flints, cores, hammers and anvils in Kenya, which were digitized in 3D using Autodesk’s Memento. Thanks to the effort headed by Dr. Louise Leakey the tools can now be seen online by the world at large on the African Fossils’ website.
