Adobe announced that it has released the first cloud-only edition of its desktop applications. Photoshop brings new sharpening technologies and workflow enhancements, Premiere Pro integrates the Lumetri Deep Color Engine to apply color grading looks, and After Effects offers a live 3D pipeline with Cinema 4D integration, among other updates. Let’s hope Adobe will offer an exist strategy, otherwise we have to pay constantly to be able to open our own files! So more or less they became drug dealers, always offering the next fix… I won’t update for that reason as long as possible…
What I do not understand is the price difference from the USA to Europe, now that it is a download only product. The (regular – not discounted) price is about 70 EUR a month – every month, every year.
I don’t get this obsession from companies making everything require an internet connection. I know it’s all about piracy but in the end, it only frustrates paying customers as the pirates are always one step ahead.
Lower the price of the suite and they’ll actually make more profit, Steam has shown this time and time again, Quote from one publisher, we made more $$$ during a Steam $5,00 sale than the entire life of our game since release, price point was $59.00 at release, AAA game.
Dont know, might be too simple. *shrug*
Despite overwhelmingly negative feedback from artists, it looks like Adobe is pushing forward with this. I’ll be waiting as long as possible to replace my current Adobe software, and, unless Adobe has gone back to a simpler onetime-fee-for-software model, I’ll be switching to Corel’s image editing software at that point. I encourage other independent artists to do the same.
Adobe might make some decent products, but they’re not the only game in town. If they want to price themselves out of business, so be it.
