“Talent is belief in oneself (and a little something else).” Australian director and VFX supervisor Allan McKay has written a great article taking a look at his career path, where he started, the times he succeeded, his missteps, and how he got to his current situation. Lots of worthy advice, especially for those who need a word of encouragement. More on Allan McKay’s website.

I really enjoyed reading the whole thing.
TL;DR – work hard, don’t give up, Autodesk Animator rocks.
It is fantastic – i have found in his text a very important and for me, very emotional moment: I was too, some 18 years ago, addressed by Tim Miller from Blur to come and work in their studios (this was the time where you have had only few thousand qualified 3d aritsts for entertainment worldwide.) I too could not get visa, but this Tim Millers mail i have printed out and hanged in my room – above all other diplomas. Never again in my life have felt so honored as i got this mail, personally, from him.
This is how some people become legends….
Miller’s ability to spot budding talent and be willing to give them a chance is legendary.
