As previously reported, Vladislav Bodyul has been working on a useful script that allows to procedurally make holes in a mesh by selecting desired vertices. He has now released the script, both in commercial and free (lite) versions. More on the author’s website.
Interestingly this uses the SimpleMeshMod class, which is only since max 2016. A feature I wasn’t aware of so far…
