Over two years in design, LightWave CORE is a node-based, multi-processing, unified application engine created by the NewTek LightWave development group. LightWave CORE is multi-platform (operates under Windows, Mac and Linux), offers a unified dynamics environment (allows dynamics, physics, cloth, hair and other solvers to interact transparently with each other) and provides full access to developers via the CORE SDK, among other features. NewTek seems to be finally abandoning its dual Modeler/Layout system that has been characteristic of LightWave since its first release in 1994 in favor of a unified application environment. LightWave CORE is slated for a Q4 2009 release, it will retail for $1495, and upgrades will cost $695. Find out more at NewTek.com.
