Otoy have released a new video demonstrating Octane 2.0’s new motion blur features. The render was created using 3DS Max with the integrated plugin at a resolution of 1280 x 720, the render time varied between 4-5 mins per frame running on 4 Titans. See the video on YouTube.
While I’m a big fan of GPU rendering I have to say that expending 4000$ for a 4/5 minutes por frame it’s a bit expensive, I mean, to have a renderfarm I would have to expend around 40k$ just in gpu’s plus the computers plus the electric consumption… it’s a bit expensie yet.
IMHO I think Corona is capable of achieving similar rendertimes with just one CPU at 720p
yes.
video look great, but we are very far from the promising shown via the brigade engine…
and: who can buy 4 titans?? it’s ok if it’s real time, but 4 minutes…
There’s a bit more info about this on Otoy’s Forum http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=39059
