The Mill has released a behind the scenes video of two cute adverts they created for Blue Bunny ice cream featuring, perhaps unsurprisingly, a blue bunny. Watch it on YouTube.
Why is their bunny so sluggish? Why show a breakdown that actually lets us compare the adorable twitchy, touchable live-action reference with their slow-mo, polyester-looking version? The real one looks so much better – why do they only want to show us everything they did wrong? Wasn’t The Mill… better than that, once upon a time?
These VFX breakdowns are increasingly embarrassing to look at. I have to wonder if it’s still worth posting so many of them. Sure, it’s what everyone does… but why? Does it help recruitment? Does it attract clients? Does it further the world’s VFX knowledge? It’s hard to see how.
Really lowering the bar there, The Mill.

(yes, I know I’m being mean. I am not a charity.)
