A new video released by Autodesk shows how Zynga built a new 3D pipeline using 3DS Max and Flare3D for Farmville 2. Watch it on Autodesk’s Area.
What bothers me about this article is that. Companies like Scanline VFX or Pixomondo are using 3Ds Max on a daily basis. They are winning one VFX Oscar after the other. The “normal” user who reads the news section on the Area everyday does not know anything about it. But yeah, farmville. Thats important.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure Zynga did great work on the game using 3Ds Max but I hope you get my point.

I am not sure it is exactly accurate to say that these companies are winning one VFX Oscar after another….But I think you are trying to point out that 3ds max is being used for a lot of todays visual effects on some pretty big features and there are not a lot of articles about it?
And while that is true, I dont think it should diminish what Zynga has done with it. 3ds max is a great tool for a lot of different needs 🙂
Autodesk will always see 3dsMax as their tool for game developers. Complaining that it doesn’t get enough credit for VFX work doesn’t change what it’s designed for. If Autodesk wanted to talk about how one of their products was getting Oscars they surely would talk about Maya.
with this autodesk’s politics day to day decrease max users ….
3DsMax is already having a pretty solid user base. so they are probably thinking why spend more and more on advertising,,
…or development… 🙂
Irritating their customers doesn’t come cheap you know.
