NVIDIA release a tool to accelerate remote desktop streaming for GeForce GPUs
To help people how are working from home, NVIDIA has announced a free tool that can accelerate Windows Remote Desktop streaming with GeForce drivers R440 or later. This feature was previously only available with Quadro cards. Read more and download the installer from NVIDIA's website.

Automatic scanning of small objects
Digital Archive of Natural History (DiNArDa) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the digitization of natural history collections, particularly insects. To this end, they have a growing library on Sketchfab which are free to download under a CC Attribution license and they have also published the specification for DISC3D. their open-source scanner designed especially for small objects.

Vive Pro announced with integrated headphones and higher resolution
HTC has announced a new model of its VR headset range. The VR Pro adds higher resolution displays dual-OLED displays at 1400 x 1600 per eye, 2880 x 1600 overall. In addition the new model features a redesigned headstrap for improved comfort and built-in headphones alleviating the need to plug in your own. Also added are dual microphone and two front-facing cameras. Pricing has yet to be announced. Find out more on the Vive website.

Microsoft retires Kinect camera
According to an article on co.design Microsoft is officially ceasing production of the Kinect camera. Originally released as a gaming gadget, the Kinect's combination of real time depth, colour and audio sensing equipment meant that it found a place in the armoury of many 3D and installation artists as an inexpensive motion capture and scanning device. It is thought that Microsoft will continue to provide support for current users, but the device will no longer ship once current stocks are depleted. Read the full story on co.design.

New features of Ultimatte 12 include: one-touch keying, support for Ultra HD output, improved image processing algorithms for better edge handling, color separation, color fidelity, and spill suppression. AMD release details of Ryzen Threadripper
AMD has announced more details of the first two Ryzen Threadripper processors to be released in early August. The Ryzen Threadripper 1950X features 16 cores and 32 threads with a 3.4 GHz base speed and a 4.0 GHz boost, it's suggested retail price will be $999. Also announced was the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X at 12 cores and 24 threads with a 3.5 GHZ base and 4 GHZ boost and an expected price of $799. More details on AMD's corporate blog and in President and CEO Dr. Lisa Su's video on YouTube which shows some demos of Threadripper being used for 3D Rendering (expect material aimed at marketing AMD products).
