AXYZ Design has released a tutorial demonstrating how to use Anima to add still characters to exterior architectural visualisations. Watch it on the AXYZ blog.
Also of note, a new version of Anima has been released that adds support for 3DS Max 2020 and Unreal Engine 4.2.2 plus several other improvement including an API for developers to build 3D animated characters into their own apps. Blender Animation Studio has released Spring, a new short film created to put Blender 2.8 through its paces. The source files, assets and making-of videos are available to member of Blender Cloud. Watch it on YouTube.

Adobe has announced updates to Creative Cloud. Headline features include a new Content-Aware Fill tool for After Effects, powered by Adobe's machine learning system Sensei, that promises to be able to automatically fills a selected space throughout the duration of a clip. (more...)

Vizrt, the creators of visual story telling tools for the broadcast sector has announced the acquisition of NewTek. NewTek are probably best known to readers of this site as the developers of Lightwave 3D, but they also publish several video products including live production systems, cameras, video replay systems, media distribution, control panels and more. With its video and broadcast focus, it is not clear at this point what this means for Lightwave 3D in the long term, but according to a post on the Lightwave blog "the most immediate change users of NewTek products can expect is that our development and marketing of NewTek products (including LightWave 3D) is not changed by this".
