Unity cancels runtime fee and reverts to subscription model for game developers

Unity has canceled the runtime fee for its game development software. This decision comes after widespread dissent about the changes and follows extensive discussions with the community, customers, and partners. Unity will now revert to its seat-based subscription model, which will apply to all gaming customers, including those adopting Unity 6, set to launch later this year. (more...)

Keentools introduces FaceTracker to Blender

KeenTools has introduced FaceTracker, its facial tracking add-on, to Blender. The 2024.2 update brings this tool to the platform as a free open beta. CityEngine 2024 released with a new visual editor

Esri has released ArcGIS CityEngine 2024.0, its 3D urban design software including the Visual CGA Editor which is now available to all users, moving out of its Beta phase. This tool makes it easier for users without programming backgrounds, such as architects and urban planners, to work with models. Autodesk acquires Golaem

Autodesk has acquired key intellectual property and the team from Golaem. According to the the announcement on Golaem's website, the team will work towards incorporating technology into Autodesk's current lineup, but no more details about which platforms are available at time of publication. For now, Golaem's developers and support teams remain available to assist with ongoing projects. (more...)
