World Machine has added cross-platform support to its terrain generation software. The upcoming version, code-named “Dragontail Peak,” will run natively on Apple Silicon Macs and on x64 Linux systems, marking the first time the software has operated outside Microsoft Windows.
Developer Stephen Schmitt described the change as part of a group of framework updates planned for the next release. The Mac and Linux versions will not appear immediately in the first public development build, as work continues on packaging and release strategies for distributing builds across three operating systems, but Schmitt stated that the code changes required for the ports are complete.
