Researchers from the University of Tokyo have presented ZoeMatrope, a display for physical material design that can reproduce a variety of materials with high resolution, high dynamic range and high light field fidelity by using real objects and human vision characteristics. ZoeMatrope achieves realistic material representation and animation by using composition and animation principles of a thaumatrope and a zoetrope.
