Allegorithmic have posted two new teasers of their upcoming 3D painting software that uses physics-driven particle brushes for simulating natural wear and tear effects: Teaser #2 - Particle Brushes, Teaser #3 - UV Reprojection.

Thanks to the EU Media Fund's recent approval of support for Blender development the software is bound to get a boost in functionality. According to Ton Roosendaal, who coordinates Blender development, funding and gifts from sponsors have allowed them to hire more people in the past for developing Blender, and the EU Media Fund will now help grow that team even more. They have set the goal to create a feature-length animated film for the next open movie project, which will be created by studios from different countries. As part of the project many open source tools for handling various tasks will be developed, including open source cloud technology, high quality physics simulation systems (particles, hair, cloth, fur, massive animation), and project, content and asset management tools. MGODI is an app created by and for the people working inside the CG industry to fulfill the need of companies and freelancers to easily connect with each other based on specific expertise or skill sets. When a company posts a job, artists matching the requirements are notified automatically. The app is being developed by Joep van der Steen and Artur Leão. It's free, lets you upload your portfolio and companies and people can easily post jobs. The app currently runs on IOS-based devices, an Android version is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2014. More on MGODI's website.
