Foundry has announced the release of Katana, its look development and lighting software. New features include a new artist focused lighting mode that combines several new workflows with the aim of giving artists a more similar approach to that of a live-action cinematographer. Autodesk has announced the release of Arnold 6.1. Autodesk announced the released of Flame 2021.2. The update adds a new object-based keyer that identifies and provides a matte for the most obvious object in a bounding box. The update also adds speed and usability improvements, a new in-context node search tool and media format updates.
Flame’s Salient keyer uses object recognition machine learning technology to identify and provide a matte for the most obvious or ‘salient’ object in a bounding box. The bounding box can be animated, and reframing will produce high-quality results for objects that can be recognized. Find out more in the documentation.
