Adobe has released a significant update to its Substance 3D Addon for Blender.
The new version introduces a refactored architecture that enhances the plugin’s performance and integration capabilities. It also lays the groundwork for the easy incorporation of new features, ensuring the addon remains future-proof. Compatibility has been broadened, with the update supporting Blender versions 3.0 and above, and extending support to Mac users.
Enhancements in version 2.0 include the addition of Substance Engine (SRE) selection support, with GPU rendering set as the default option. It also introduces new image formats for texture export, bit depth selection for each map type, value outputs support, and string input support. Furthermore, an option to select the default temporary folder for image export destinations has been added. Performance improvements are a significant focus of this release, alongside fixes for various issues related to integration tools, material updates, and export functionalities. Notably, the update resolves problems with communication between the Integration Tools and Blender, installation/startup failures, material updates, and more.
