Side Effects Software has released Houdini Engine for Epic Games' Unreal Engine 4. The plugin lets artists load Houdini Digital Assets built using Houdini’s procedural node-based workflow into the UE4 editor with parameters and controls that can be manipulated to create custom results. More on .

Iray+ for 3DS Max integration plugin released
Lightworks announced the release of Iray for 3DS Max, which enables Max users to take advantage of the rendering capabilities of Iray+. Iray+ extends the Iray implementation currently included in Max with features such as full MDL support, improved approach to using and creating physically-accurate materials and support for cloud or remote rendering. The Iray for 3DS Max plugin is offered through rental licensing only, at $295 per year, with the server license costing an additional $295. More on Lightworks and NVidia.

3DS Max 2016 Service Pack 2
Service Pack 2 for 3DS Max 2016 is now available, bringing bug fixes for a number of issues. At this time the file does not show up yet in the English version of Autodesk's Knowledge Network. More on Autodesk's website (German).

Thinkbox releases Sequoia
Thinkbox Software has released its cross-platform tool for converting particle and point cloud data to geometry. Sequoia can ingest or export data in nearly any format required, enabling seamless integration within established pipelines. Once a 3D mesh has been generated, additional features allow for smoothing and decimation to reduce triangle count. (more...)
