Kinetic Lab has posted a series of commercial scripted plugins called UI Toolkit that is aimed at helping artists quickly create modern and sci-fi user interfaces as well as motion graphics. Among the tools are 18 new geometry plugins, the abllity to quickly create lines and circles with lines, dots and numbers, a holographic effects that works by projecting lines onto a mesh and many more. This tool looks incredible and can do some complex things so I hope there will be more detailed tutorials on how to make the scanner and some of the other sophisticated effects.

Also the tool come with a help file describing all the tools and functions, and all the effects showed in the video are quick and easy to reproduce.
