MOPs – Houdini motion graphics nodes for designers released
MOPs is a new free open source toolkit for Houdini, created by Henry Foster and Moritz Schwind, for recreating common motion graphics effects. The first release includes a basic set of essentials for creating motion graphics in Houdini.
The MOPs nodes are essentially an easy way to manipulate lots of copies of things in a way that should be familiar to artists working in other DCC apps but will also be useful for existing Houdini artists to simplify the creation of sophisticated effects.
These were built using a framework that is designed to be easy for users to create their own custom MOPs nodes. In the future the team have plans to release a more advanced set of commercial assets that work with the MOPs architecture. Find out more on the MOPs website including many video tutorials.
