NPower Software announced the release of a new reverse engineering add-on for SolidWorks 3D that significantly improves the process for reverse engineering scanned meshes, other mesh data and SolidWorks geometry within SolidWorks. It allows to convert scanned meshes or those that have been created with subdivision surfaces into “standard” SolidWorks NURBS geometry and brings mesh cleanup and preparation tools to simplify the process.

Features include:
  • Full Power Surfacing toolset
  • Import meshes and display as reference mesh
  • Convert SolidWorks geometry into reference mesh
  • Drawing tools with automatic face creation
  • Constrain points to reference mesh
  • Automatically retologize enclosed areas
  • Distance display to measure approximation of reference mesh
  • Fill holes while matching curvature of reference mesh
  • Interpolate or “shrink wrap” to match reference mesh
