Disney Research has released a paper and accompanying video of a system for lifelike gaze in human-robot interactions using a humanoid animatronic bust. The aim was to “create a general architecture to create gaze interactions from a technological standpoint, but also through the lens of character animation where the fidelity and believability of motion are paramount”. Watch the demo on YouTube and read the paper on Disney’s research website.
