(Updated) The Foundry has made available a page with more details on Modo 901. Version 901 is a major upgrade that brings a comprehensive list of new features. Changes include:
- Advanced hardware-accelerated photorealistic viewport based on Mari technology
- Integrated MeshFusion
- Accelerated performance
- OpenSubdiv library support
- Enhanced modeling toolset
- Improved UV workflows
- Better multi-resolution sculpting
- Extended dynamics and effects – procedural Shatter for shattering meshes based on collisions, procedural Rock for adding natural-looking landscape details, dynamic simulations can now be saved and loaded as separate external cache files, etc.
- More flexible rigging
- Easier pipeline integration – new TD SDK offers an easier and more intuitive interface to the existing Python API for writing plug-ins. MODO 901 also brings Qt support to Mac OS X and Windows —already available on Linux— so TDs can make cross-platform custom UIs. Plus support for OpenVDB voxel datasets and improved workflows with Nuke and Mari.
- Complexity management – Deferred Mesh item lets you offload assets to disk, loading them at render time. Added ability to mass-convert scene image clips to Tiled EXRs and better ways to expose only selected inputs in assemblies.
- Improved painting and texturing
- Physically based materials and rendering
- Vector-based graphics support
- UI and viewport enhancements
Anyone knows if the Steam version will be updated the same time as the official 901 release date?
