This book provides a holistic approach to CG animation by covering all
aspects of a typical animation project, using 3ds max 6 as the main
toolset.  It covers all the fundamentals of 3-D graphics and animation,
as well as detailed instruction on a broad range of disciplines and
techniques used in the 3-D field.  It also includes a real-world
example of a short, character-based animation.

Geared toward serious beginners wanting to prepare a fully realized portfolio
for professional work or wanting to create quality work on their own, this book is relevant to anyone
interested in creating independent short films, videogame cinematics, and
broadcast animation.

Barrett Fox has more than nine years of experience with real-world
animation productions and has been teaching and writing about 3-D
graphics for nearly eight years.  He is currently an instructor in
San Francisco State University’s Multimedia Studies Program.

The CD-ROM that comes with the book contains a host of 3ds max files
and supporting texture files that not only support the lessons but give
users direct access to the models and animations used to create the
example film.
