(Mar 31, 2004) – Update(cptvideo): This has been getting a lot of media attention (LA times, Wall St. Journal, etc.), and some members of the group appeard on TechTV yesterday – the TechTV segment is apparently supposed to air on CNN headline news at 3:45 pm PST (10 mins from now – don’t know if it will repeat). We wish these guys luck 🙂 It would be cool to see this work for them.

Offshored Bay Area Animation Software Gurus Vow to Stay Together;
Employment Search Turned into Charitable Benefit

San Jose, CA (March 25th, 2004) — Similar to the uproar that would be
caused if the Yankees’ line-up was disassembled, the animation world was stunned
when the engineering dream team responsible for one of the world’s best-selling
animation software architectures became part of the trend to offshore high-tech
jobs.

The team, who has worked years side-by-side, has opted to stay together and
open up a chance for employers to bid for their service on eBay. Proceeds raised
from the auction will be donated to the George Lucas Educational
Foundation.

"High-tech downsizing and offshoring is a part of life these days, but
we’re committed to keeping our creative brain trust intact," said Gus Grubba, a
member of the e-DREAM TEAM. "It takes years to build a team like ours. We’re
looking forward to entertaining offers the world over and investing the final
bid to benefit innovative, on-line learning."

The e-DREAM TEAM’s talents are responsible for the development of the
world’s leading 3D graphics, animation and rendering system. The product of the
team’s work has touch the lives of every person who has ever enjoyed a movie,
played a computer game or watched television.

Bidding on eBay will be open until April 2. For more information, go to: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3668406628&category=182
