Rumors

Rental licensing could be extended to other property owned by 3D users

Following the transition of some corporations to a rental-only business model, a number of companies are rumored to be considering extending the model further to other property owned by their customers. A top executive from a company that develops graphic applications agreed to comment unofficially. “Yes, it’s on the table, so to speak. We believe that some people are developing a passion for paying rent, and extending the model further would be the right thing for our customers. So we’re studying ways that they can also pay us rent for other things they own – cars, apartments, mobile phones, you name it”.

According to the executive, the concept behind rental-only licensing is based on Buddhism, and was brought forward by a CEO who attained enlightenment. “The key concept here is renunciation of craving and attachment. Buddha taught us that suffering comes from attachment to mundane things, and bliss comes from the ability to liberate oneself from owning. Private property is a damaging illusion that attaches us to this world, putting our customers in an endless cycle of suffering and rebirth. So when we say we know what is right for our customers, this is based on thousands of years of wisdom. Paying rent instead of owning things frees our customers from this vicious cycle.”
