Man. I wish 3DS Max could update the CAT muscle system or build a new one that had cool features. Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to keep wishing.
I wish i had money to enter the… Eh… Premium part of blender :/ I think it’s unfair that a free opensource software gets “abused” by people who starves for money :/ The idea of blender is to allow regular public to enjoy the pleasure of creativity without being cash-loaded professionals with hollywood-like budgets… If i had money, i would probably buy all availlable plugins for blender but i’m poor… There should be a way-through for non-pro, non-rich artists like me to enjoy those “should have been included directly in the software” plugins…
Well, how are they supposed to make money off their work then?
The idea of blender is that it’s open source and you can use it for anything you want, even for developing commercial plugins \ scripts,
it’s not a given that everything that people make for it is supposed to be free of charge.
Yes, what stig atle steffensen said.
Plus, some of these addons simply wouldn’t be created, if the creator weren’t looking forward to some better incentive than generosity.
Because let’s face it: Donation boxes don’t work. They just don’t. Even FOSS developers like Blender Foundation and Krita developers have learned that sometimes, you have to find surer ways to fund development.
And while some of these “premium” addons might even get pirated eventually (sadly, it happens), at least the developer can gain a little compensation in order to buy better equipment, pay for some coffee for late nights, etc.
It’s not sad that some developers make paid content for Blender. It’s sad that people think such freedom to create paid content is somehow “wrong” or “ruining” the free and open-source philosophy of Blender. They do not conflict.
