I’ve been using this plugin for the last week or two, and I love it. It’s useful in so many ways and I don’t know of a single 3D package that has these features. Fantastic for animating and for scene assembly and even setting up particle motions (although you need to use mesher for now for it to show up). Love that you can have an independent selection showing in Newview (so it can be completely different than what you see in the Max viewports). Wish Boomer Labs the most exposure and success with this plugin. Going forward I’ll be using it all the time.
As a side note, it’s innovative stuff like this I wish Autodesk would add to Max.
Looks great! I will hold off until I see what updates are coming out for 2017 first though
Boomer Labs’ stuff is so good. My entire life is built around Supermesher.
cannot justify plugins any longer for 3ds max.
also the geomaps turned out buggy for me and support does not seem to care.
pathetic and sad that autodesk cannot seem to implement the simplest of features like this. i am done with plugins though.
Major,
What about geomaps specifically is buggy. I use it quite often in production and have yet to come across any issues with it. I’d truly be surprised to know what bugs you have found. It would be good to know. I’m actually a very good friend of Boomerlabs and i know for a fact that they truly care about the quality of their products and the support. I can easily put you in contact or relay any concerns of problems you have with them.
Major,
Please contact us at: support@boomerlabs.com and I’d be happy to help.
hi matt,
i just sent an email.
my problems were displacement and also viewport related.
Major – I’m investigating your displacement question. Regarding appearing in the viewport, GeoMaps appear during rendering not viewport preview.
At this point in time, I’d rather update 2014-2016 with plugins like this (it’s $100, that’s pretty darn cheap) than to be on subscription and hope that Autodesk implements the features that I want — and before you start adding up all the plugins cost, you don’t have to get all the useful plugins out there at once, just as you need them in production.
You’re done with plugins eh? Oh boo hoo.
By the same logic are you done with apps for your phone?
If you can’t see the value in extending a platform with purely optional purpose written free and/or purchased tools based on your usage case, then I can’t help you.
Boomer Labs. Makes great products. I only wish they made it Network License Floating License. Then it will be cost effective to buy it for are studio.
I just used newview to dial in a complex camera fly-through animation with a bunch of animated objects that pass right in front of the camera – I was able to animate a gorgeous, smooth fly-by with all elements animating at the perfect time, in the perfect location. Soooo good for this stuff.
BUT!! the incredibly awesome and unexpected feature was it’s ability to save out a playblast (capture animation) SO MUCH faster than max’s built in playblast feature. For comparison, it took roughly 30 minutes to playblast out the shot (1000 frames…huge scene) NewView saved out a PNG sequence as the sequence played in realtime. It playblasted 1000 frames in around 30 seconds. MIND BLOWN. Waiting for max playblasts to save sucks. Newview is worth $100 bucks for the 30 minutes it saved me the first time I used it.
Congratulations and Respect for Boomer Labs!!!!!! you make a Deatached window for 100 Dollars.
I payed 10 Years Subcription (650 € x 10 = 6500!!!!) and Autodesk do not make it. every time prety UI????
But they say “its a Goal” in the Excalibur Proyect.
were is Excalibur?
were go 3ds max? Poor Max users.
cheers
charles
Nice plugin there Mathew, but it would be great if you could continue to work with FoleyStudio as well 🙂
Stefan,
Check your inbox 🙂
Folks,
As an fyi, NewView has just been updated to add MAX 2017 and MAXScript support as well.
