CablePlacer for 3ds Max
MxTools has released CablePlacer, a new tool for 3ds Max 2013 and above for modelling cables based on splines. Features include the ability to save and load cable items to a library with thumbnails, and adjust their size, the ability to construct cable nodes in a variety of ways using several parameters, the ability to replace geometry with a cable node, the ability to extract a spline from the geometry, the ability to draw a shape in screen space or by conforming to a surface, and the ability to manipulate cables by adjusting their position, rotation, scale, and twist. The plugin includes several preset cables with UV’s and materials that are ready to use. Find out more on Gumroad.
CablePlacer looks cool but… I imagine one day we’ll have to pay a subscription plan to toilet paper providers
its a shame to have subscription for this kind of tool. i understand he want to get money, but at least put an update road map on the cable tool to justify the price every year.
So true, wanted to write something similar.
A subscription makes no sense for these types of plugins. You end up with soo many subscriptions to keep track of, and then you are bleeding money without knowing it. No thanks!
42$ per year, good luck
Such a shame to see a possibly talented developer trip at the last hurdle. It looks like it could be a polished product, and kudos for supporting older versions. It must be tricky to calculate the market worth of your product, but this is way wide of the mark for me. I’m not even going to bother returning to the website, unless the developer wakes up while the spotlight is still on.
Subscription for a 3ds max script? Makes me want to laugh. I would rather pay $50 ONE time for this, but now Dan is forcing users to pay each month or each year. Subscriptions for a application like 3ds max is okay, but a script like this, lol, no way!!!
Nice plugin but I agree with what everyone else said, so I’ll pass on this one. Too bad, looked useful…
Looks awesome!
$42… not that bad. It would save me hours.
…per year.
And, it’s worse than that. The licensing system being used is locked to a specific computer’s MAC address. At least with contemporary subscription systems you typically get included internet activation so that you can use the software on whatever computer you may be using at the time.
With this plugin, the license is tied to one computer, with no option to transfer. If you work on multiple computers, you’ll need to buy multiple licenses. If you upgrade to a new PC during the subscription period, you will have to repurchase a new license.
From the plugin website:
Note: The Physical (MAC) Address field can no longer be changed after you have made the purchase.
a nice tool but unfortunately a total SCAM
id be happy to pay $100 for a permanent license but i often need to moev work stations so the below is unacceptable.
lets hope someone cracks this soon to teach these scammers a lesson

Fair warning and I agree the deal is a lousy one, but no need to promote theft. You are free not to buy it if you don’t like it.
