CGPress is proud to announce CGPressVR, a groundbreaking virtual reality news experience that will deliver immersive journalism to CG artists around the world.
Virtual Reality forecasts predict the market will be worth $30 billion by 2020. Considering the dire addiction symptoms people exhibit today with technologies such as mobile phones, VR experiences promise much higher addiction levels and an even more effective disconnection from reality, leaving consumers with no choice but to spend up to their last pennies on these latest technological wonders.
CGPress is thus thrilled to be part of the CG industry’s effort to push this technology forward and bring the blessings of VR to the CG world at large. With widespread adoption of VR, it will soon become the news publishing platform of choice, allowing the audience to be immersed in stories with such realism that they’ll never want to leave.
Immersive journalism will effortlessly surpass the constraints of traditional media, offering a hyper-realistic experience at the maximum possible fidelity demanded by consumer VR devices.
We encourage readers to purchase as many VR headsets as they can and prepare for the official launch of CGPressVR. The system will enter public beta testing soon.

Would that make it a vrog?
I think creating news, reviews and interviews in proper VR will not be easy – at least not with the current tech. So as long as CGpress doesn’t team up with Hollywood, I expect the first “full-in-VR-article” earliest next year…in exactly 365 day, very exactly 🙂
I’m happy you’re covering this! I don’t really know what sources to follow except for random youtube videos/channels so having a place to go for VR news will be nice.
A friend just let me know about StarVR, I hadn’t head of it before, and it just makes me think how early we are with the current devices. Once StarVR (210 degree FOV) like devices become mainstream is when I think VR will seriously take off. The lack of periphery really bothers me in Oculous/HTC Vive/PSVR — even though I still enjoy it a lot. StarVR really transports you to another place because it really is all around you.
Sorry for the marketing-like speech, it’s just a great new era. I remember trying VR back in 1993 at a CG conference in Sweden. It was so bad. Glad the tech is finally here to support proper VR.
Nice move! I think that it is extremely interesting niche nowadays. And still unexplored.
Tobbe: if you want to follow VR news, there is already a bunch of sites that do it well. I hope that CGPressVr will be sson amongst them. You can find a list here: http://www.vrfavs.com/
Happy April Fools day to you too! “…allowing the audience to be immersed in stories with such realism that they’ll never want to leave”. Love it!
@Eric: Ha ha ha! Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
@Tobbe: Thank you for the enthusiasm, but you may want to check the publication date and re-read the news item. 😀
I was fooled and I guess I didn’t read it properly. I thought you were adding VR to your news sections. Oh well :).
