Does anyone truly know what the end goal of Vantage is? Do you think it’s eventually going to be a scene assembly tool? I struggle to see what the immediate problem is solves in production where-as so many other chaos apps are must haves.
https://www.chaosgroup.com/vantage#showcase
One of the intended uses is for realtime visualization, f.e. like this: https://www.chaosgroup.com/blog/arterra-interactive-on-presenting-cities-via-chaos-vantage
Like I said it’s innovative and really impressive stuff. It makes me want to just use it as a full fledged scene assembly tool. That’s why I’m curious as to where this will eventually go since there is so much potential there. As always great stuff Vlado.
If 3ds Max had great viewport Vantage would not be needed as much. It’s some kind of IPR alternative but with many additional features. It can be used as pre-vis or for demonstration purposes. Although it’s is rather a niche – you can do your work without Vantage so I don’t expect big sales soon. As for technology – it’s amazing, walking through V-Ray scenes can be helpful during checking their quality before finalizing.
I dont know what the point of this tool is.
I really think Chaos dropped the ball and stopped devleoping Vray GPU at the expense of trash like this. Its only usefulf for arch vis pre vis and even then its cumbersome.
The fact Vray GPU is still considered experimental and bundled with Vray CPU shows you that Chaos now only intterested in revenue over innovation. It could be so good but sadly is 5 years later a half baked product with little in the way of new featrures – let alone feature parity with CPU
I will agree it’s a confusing product to me. The product is certainly powerful in the tech behind it, and even if the product is more for Arch Viz, Chaos is being smart. That industry is way more profitable and larger then the vfx industry by a long shot. Either way Chaos Group always puts in a strong effort with their products, however this Vantage is the first one I found to be confusing on it’s place in the industry. So I’m curious to see what they do with it.
I think they undestand that rendering business will change in couple years. Instead of selling rendering engine. Vantage integration with cosmos modeling packs looks like It will be another product like D5 or Lumion. They may sell premium content to make money. Until this occurs, they will get much as much as money from existing customers. Chaos has the same roadmap like Autodesk.
All you *ever* do on this site is talk sh*t about anyone that comes in range.
This time is Chaos, the other day was AD, the one previous was a terrain tool, or this or the other plugin.
CPU and GPU parity? Name ONE engine, i dare you.
V-Ray CPU bundled with CPU is a sign of it being experimental?
Why, what does Arnold do, or rMan, or Blender, or *anyone else* for that matter which has both a cpu and a gpu version of their engine?
To top your BS up, you talk of stuff you couldn’t possibly know anything about (f.e. how many people are allocated to what project inside a given company.), call everyone incompetent and greedy (while it’s clear the last thing you could possibly have a feel for is the cost of running an enterprise of those levels), and claim that they should get their act together and hire the pros (Which in your head, it’s clearly someone like you.).
You’re more than useless to any debate, you’re a troll.
I wish i could block.
There is a paradigm shift to real-time tech and Chaos is trying tapping into that with their Vantage DCC tool. While they are aware of current trends and developing towards those, there is an obvious lack of direction.
Unreal has defined the future with rtx, lumen and nanite combined with DCC capabilities.
