Improvements to set dressing include a new transform manipulator, a volume display density modifier for visual feedback on volumes, a new surface constraint for attaching items on animated deformed geometry, plus new playblast functionality to create quick photorealistic animated previews.

On the look development side, this release adds multiple scattering, improved rendering of rough materials, new mipmapping controls, a volume sampling, and several material improvements. In addition, the lighting and rendering pipeline has been rewritten from the ground up, with promises of improved quality, lights visible to primary rays and optimized render times. IES light profiles and portal lights are now supported too, and spotlights have been improved to reduce noise and increase quality.

Rendering gains speed improvements and improved OCIO integration and a new render recovery feature allows the user to interrupt and resume renders over the farm.

Pixar’s USD is now integrated with promises of asset load speeds up to 50 times faster than with Alembic, and a new expressions engine is included, based on SeExpr from Walt Disney Animation Studios. Several enhancements to scene management improve user experience and streamline workflows, including support for Alembic layering.

To find out more about this release, visit Isotropix website.

In addition to new features, Isotropix also announced a new pricing framework. CNode permanent licenses now cost $549/499€ and one-week short term rental now starts at $29/26€. Unit prices of 1-year CNode licenses now cost $349/319€. New packs of 5, 25  and 100  1-year licenses are also offered with volume discounts.

Students studying in educational institutions teaching Clarisse iFX can now apply for a free 1-year fully-featured home license of Clarisse iFX, while others eligible students can purchase a 1-year student educational license at $59/49€. Educators working for an eligible educational institution can get a free 1-year fully-featured node-locked home license of Clarisse iFX.

Additional 1-year CNode floating licenses are also available to purchase by eligible educational institutions at $39/35€.

If clarisse can get a faster SSS it can be cool. the actual 1 is very very slow to compute (certainly accurate?)
