New features in Corel’s natural media painting software include:
- The user interface has been overhauled with over 650 new icons and a new dark theme that aims to minimise the interface and put the focus on the artwork. The UI has also been improved for use on high DPI displays.
- Performance & Speed has been improved with claims of 38% faster document rendering for users with AVX-2 compatible systems when zooming, panning, and rotating; as well as brushes that can be up to 75% faster; and an enhanced Brush Ghost that aims to eradicate lag.
- New brush categories and more brushes have been added, with 36 new brushes and a new Stamps brush category. There are also five new Patterns that are designed for concept artists and video game designers.
- Colour workflows have been enhanced for a more intuitive way to choose and interact with colours using redesigned grabbers in the Color Wheel, Hue Ring, and Saturation/Value Triangle. Users who frequently switch colours can now pin the redesigned Temporal Colors Selector for easy access to any colour selection, while greatly reducing the amount of UI in their workspace. A new feature adds the ability to drag the updated colour selector over any area of their artwork and see a colour that complements the selection.
- Improvement to multi-touch, stylus and mouse control
New licenses cost $429 and current users can upgrade for $229. A free 30-day trial is available. More on Corel’s website.
