Corona Academy moves online

Chaos Group Czech has announced the launch of Corona Academy online. Formally the only way to get training directly from the Corona team was to attend in person. According to the announcement, this arrangement was designed to create a network of certified instructors that could run their own courses and train other teachers and students but was prohibitively expensive for end-users. With over 100 instructors now certified, the announcement claims the course had served its purpose and that COVID pandemic had only accelerated plans that were already in place.

In some ways, the new online training competes with its own certified instructors by creating training for end-users. The Corona team address this in the announcement, saying that competition is healthy and offering some examples of opportunities for instructors that won’t be covered by Corona’s own training. These include courses in other languages, in-person courses, and courses that go beyond the technical aspects of rendering to incorporate “things such as colour theory, composition, modelling, and other wider aspects of 3D artistry”

The Corona Academy programme is currently available for 3ds Max and comprises over 11 hours of video content and allows attendees to qualify as a certified user upon successful completion of a final test. Students will also gain access to the Corona Academy student community, get quarterly Q&A sessions with a Corona team member and updates for 2 years.

The course will cost €299 + VAT, though it is currently on offer for €249 + VAT.  Find out more in the announcement and on the Corona Academy website.
