CRYENGINE updates roadmap
Crytek has updated the roadmap for CRYENGINE, giving users an idea of what to expect in the engine between now and Spring 2020, plus some longer term goals. Some of the more significant entries include short term aims such as increasing the stability and usability of the engine with a new in-editor project management system and numerous optimizations in all areas including rendering, compilation, and memory footprint.
In the longer term, there are plans to rework the Schematyc system and add a modern and node-based visual scripting framework. The modular behaviour of the visual scripting framework will enable other features to take advantage of this system, including, for example, animation tools. Hardware-agnostic ray tracing is also on the cards are several new features and support for more platforms.
See the roadmap in full on the CRYENGINE website.
I guess that means the 2019 summer release of Schematyc 2.0 is canceled?..
What I dont get is, they removed Lua without having a replacement system in place and now they’re canceling the replacement’s replacement.. We’ll have a year (if we’re lucky) to wait for the replacement system. Really bummed about that.
