E-on releases PlantCatalog procedural foliage library

E-on has announced the release of PlantCatalog, a new procedural library and plants and trees. At the time of release, the software features 60 species, each of which can be customised using parameters like age, health, season, size, and many more. There are also presets for each plant. More plants are due to be added every quarter

Animation is supported, as are  LOD levels, and the ability to export the plants in many formats for use in nearly any application. Importer plugins which maintain the parametric controls are available for Max and Maya.

PlantCatalog costs $249.95 per year which includes the exporter standalone application and the plugins. Vue or Plantfactory users can get a license for $99 that works directly in these applications.

To learn more, read the full press release on the E-on website.

e-on is one of the companies i left behind, having bought the xstream version some time back.
i could forgive the xstream bugginess, and appreciated the fixes introduced since the aquisition, but the rental system again is just a no go.
i realize this is bentley´s doing but it really makes no difference.
by all indicators, they´ve lost a ton of customers, deservedly so.
there are bunch of companies wanting to get that sweet recurrent, endless profit but seem to overvalue their status.

adobe is pretty much the only game in town for quite a few things hence they were able to leverage their de facto monopoly. e-on definitely aint it.

i take pleasure in seeing these companies slip into irrelevance.

Amen. I recently was interested in buying Vue 2016 from a guy who owned it (since he wasn’t using it anymore), and once he realized he wasn’t able to run the app he paid for any longer, we both smelled this very distinct stench of greed. I reckon in several years they will be offering Vue on Humble Bundle (like the Corel did with the Painter for 25$).
