Ephere introduces Ragner: An AI Assistant for 3ds Max Users
Ephere has released Ragner, an AI plug-in for creating, managing, and optimizing 3ds Max scenes.
The AI has been trained on a 3ds Max knowledgebase so once connected to Ephere’s server with a valid user key, Ragner is able to to operate 3ds Max simply by telling it what to do. For example, in the example video above the presenter is able to quickly generate a grid of boxes, with the ability to specify dimensions and spacing. The AI remembers the context of commands, building a history that informs subsequent commands, allowing for complex sequences of actions to be performed.
Ragner also incorporates features for feedback and improvement. Users are encouraged to “like” results that meet their expectations, aiding the AI in learning and improving its performance. Additionally, it offers visibility into the MaxScript executed for each command and maintains an undo history, ensuring that users can easily revert actions if necessary. The platform supports the creation of “strategies,” which are collections of commands aimed at accomplishing specific tasks. These strategies can be shared among users with the same key, and preserved across different sessions and computers.

that looks promising, and you a lot of AI training as users play with the tool more and more
*you get a lot
for some reason it won’t let me edit the comment…
nice !!, what’s the price per prompt ? what does it mean ?
I guess Autodesk is working on something similar, textures would be cool too
We’re using GPT4 in the background which has costs calculated based on token usage. Tokens used depend on the prompts as well as the output, so the price is computed dynamically each time. Typically it is in the cents or fractions of a cent range (and can be cheaper as we train and improve the model). There’s a $2 credit to all new users so for a while essentially it is free for you. You can find the cost of each request printed to MXS listener.
Thank you ! Great work, it does look very promising.
It’s nice to see Ephere still creating products. I didn’t realize they were still around.
Very much so still around! Great to see your new tools too John, your GPT maxscript tool from last year was a bit of an inspiration.
@Ephere
Hi are you going to make it backward comparable with Max 2022 ( last licensed version of max)
Would love to experiment with your plugin.

Yes, currently it’s 2024 only just for simplicity of development process
