RodyPolis, a VFX stock producer, is running a crowdfunding campaign to produce a quality explosion, fire, and fireball stock footage pack that can be used with compositing and editing software. Features include: effects stay in frame (no cut off at edges), 4K and 2K resolution, 60fps or higher, Window/Door/Wall fires, shot in LOG and properly exposed, etc. The pack can be purchased at a significant discount through the campaign. Head over to Kickstarter for more.

I’m guessing they’re referencing Action Essentials when they talk about everyone using the same effects. If so I agree wholeheartedly! After using that pack on my friend’s series, I see it now everywhere. That same explosion with the sparks flying out… Why? This is one of the first Kickstarters i can actually get behind.

Hey Guillermo,

A quick look at the website you linked to revealed that all their big explosions are pretty much CG, and thus look obviously fake. We’re shooting real large scale effects. Their other effects also don’t have the versatility that our packages will. Their files are delivered in 2K at 24fps, while ours are 4K at at least 60fps.

Hope that clears up any confusion as to what we’re creating. Thanks!

Hi Rodolphe,

I’m Brad Hawkins the owner of FX Elements and I just wanted to clear up a few misconceptions you posted about our site:

1 – The vast majority of our effects are practical not CG – only 73 of our 1170 effects are CG
2 – Our footage is delivered in 2k ProRes as well as the RAW R3D file at up to 5k (soon to be 6k) resolution
3 – Our files playback at 24fps (the worldwide cinema standard), but they were captured at up to 150fps (perhaps you’ve confused our posted frame rate with the captured FPS)

Hope that clears up any confusion about our site.

Best of luck with your footage, there’s plenty of room for variety in our niche industry.

-Brad
