AAA Studio announced a rewritten version of their production GPU renderer. Now called FurryBall RT, it uses CUDA and NVidia’s OptiX ray tracing engine, offering performance and viewport improvements of 10-30x times compared to the earlier DX-based (rasterization) version. Features include: physically based DOF at no extra rendering time, real motion blur, render passes at no extra rendering time, IPR render support, BiFrost mesh rendering and support for Arnold, V-Ray and Mental Ray shaders.
FurryBall RT beta is now available for Maya 2011-2016, with a Cinema 4D version expected to come later this year. There is no mention yet of a 3DS Max version. Also of note, AAA Studio announced a new optional rental licensing model for the renderer. More on AAA Studio’s website.
