A federal judge in San Francisco has issued a preliminary injunction against Digital Domain 3.0, that prevents them from using, and licensing out MOVA; a facial capture technology that they purchased back in 2013 from Greg LaSalle for $25,000.
MOVA has been used on many films including Deadpool, and Guardians of The Galaxy, and is licensed to other studios like 20th Century Fox and Marvel, through Digital Domain 3.0. Because of this intellectual property court case between Greg LaSalle and Digital Domain’s parent companies, any studio using MOVA must stop using it until further notice, or until a trial resolves the issue.
