Some impressive features laid out in the blandest, tedious movie that make sit all seem like amateur hour. Hire an editor for sales sake.

“this” is what an update should be – autodesk take note please for 3ds max 2016 due out early next year.

I don’t see much of interesting new features.
What am I missing?

Is this really a spectacular release? Imagine Autodesk released 3dsmax with the same features,I’m sure a lot of us would still be disappointed.
I’ve believe the Max users’ expectations are much higher than this.
Seriously, cogwheel,non-destructive bevel,”revolutionary” pen tool?
The Motion tracker is a fantastic addition though

Old c4d user here, I lost my interest in c4d years ago. I don’t see that much development on Maxon side as well.
On a side curious note, lately it seems they add some of the features that appeared in Blender one or two year earlier. Like with this rel. for instance, camera tracker, pen tool, or the crease pencil before… even though no fluid yet.

That being said, it doesn’t mean that AD should rely on lack of cool new features from the competition and sit and wait.

Of course it all depends on point of view, but for me, only the Pen Tools is a amazing update. The other stuff are meh.

And viewport performance wasn’t addressed, which I find a major problem in C4D.

I’m not a c4d user so I can’t say if its spectacular for them. But for me as a max user it looks like a solid release.

Would love to have reflection layers inside vray for 3ds max that’s for sure. 😀

One of the worst sales video I saw… it is aweful, it is so aweful that the features became not important at all, is horrible to watch this video 😛

Probably the video was done by some important (aka: power holder) executive of Maxon that thought he could do it better…

Because you haven’t seen the Teaser by Imaginary Forces then 🙂
It seems a teaser for Videocopilot Optical Flares/Element 3D, just Videocopilot would have done it better 😀

I’m very impressed by c4d in general and this update certainly packs a punch. I am curious about this reflectance concept and wonder if they have altered material system in general.
Previously one of the nagging problems that I have had was that I failed to find a way how to use multiple different forms of projections (e.g 2 uv maps) for different material input as it does not let you specify them. Basically if your character has 2 UV channels, there is no way to specify which texture uses which UV(or most other forms of projections). I imagine it is not the case with addon render engine, but something like Vray lags behind with ancient version. Can anyone enlighten me on this subject?
Additionally I find C4D python integration to be a bit subpar ( e.g “callCommand 123456” = poly extrude; that’s blind coding). I hope they will make it as natural as possible. Xpresso should also be a bit enhanced, for instance allowing topoloy change (lean more towards ICE).
Overall I find C4D to be just supreme at these day to day tasks, it is incredibly productive, like modern 3ds max. Animation with C4D in its “graph view” just destroys max. The same time it has this glass ceiling that is very hard to go past to customize to studios needs. I wish they would address it. I am also grateful if someone shines in and perhaps enlightens some of my concerns. Tnx!
