Does anyone even use mr anymore?
Yeah. A ton of people, really 😉
It seems like a lot of people are switching to vray or arnold, but mr is an awesome renderer and the very best thing is the all new maya integration coming with 3.13. This is the perfect time to get back to mental ray and use it’s modern workflow. One reason why arnold became so popular is, because it’s easy to use. Now mental ray is even easier (no need to control light samples seperatly, no need to figure out what exactly is causing noise, because unified sampler takes care of it etc.). But at the same time, it’s more advanced. The mila shader for example is inredible powerful and allows to layer tons of glossy lobes with sss, and transmissions without sacrificing performance.
I can’t believe after so many years, you STILL need to unhide production shaders to get to the matte shadow shader. LOL -__-
