Marius Silaghi has released Mesh Contrast, a new modifier for 3ds Max that is designed to enhance the details of a 3d model. It allows you to quickly add contrast to whole models or to highlight only some specific areas. Areas with large and small polygons can be set to receive the same amount of contrast with the “Uniform” option. The plugin costs €30. Find out more on Marius Silaghi’s website.
Very nice.. but maybe someday someone will stolen the same idea and will name it as UNRELAX or RELAXREVERSE 😛
Why not 😉 I love these new ideas how to process meshes by Marius and others. Today’s complex models hold so much potential for mesh bashing and this is a cool little tool helps unrevealing it.
(i was just being ironic about what happened before to Marius Silaghi’s Radial symmetry, turbo reverse, quad chamfer and others) 🙊 funny that for Radial Symmetry the other guys dared to use even the same name:

(Comment Erased because duplicated)
and maybe Marius got his ideas and the naming from someone else too. Radial symmetry has been available in Zbrush for years and since one month there is also a Contrast modifier 😉 Anyway, making good ideas available to as many users as possible is of course a good idea!
I understand your point… but for me if you sell a plugin with the same name, with the same function, for the same software, is obviously worse than you port something useful from one software to other.
Looks like it’s translating along the normals like Houdini’s peak SOP
Fantastic work as usual. The pace of new releases from Marius is remarkable.
So this is just like “enhance details” feature in blender’s sculpting mode?
and “enhance displacement” featueres. There was many other. These features are about 1year old in blender.
But good to have them in 3ds too.
Im vegan too.
ughhhhhhhhhh, max had extrude before blender did, and? what does it matter? nobody cares, just use the program you like and what works for the job at hand.
these blender fanboys are seriously lowering the quality of this site.
Yes, but it makes a difference to have this as a modifier…
omg… this guy is comparing sculpting tools that enhance edges and cavities against a complete, animatable, selective and non-destructive stack modifier…
by the way, zbrush, Sculptris and even the poor mudbox have this same sculpt basic tool.
Here come the vegans again visiting the steakhouse, to say for everybody that the barbecue will never replace a baked potato…
Marius Silaghi indeed dors alot of great plugins, what I miss he would do is a rather simple tool for VRay to collect materials, .mat files and from them render out snall thumbnails and be able to save it and re-use the libs in any scene and apply the material to any object. Almost like the retail VRay Asset browser, at least similar.
