how is this renderer? does anyone have an unbiased opinion about it?
Most of the time I use Redshift, but for a small project I had to use Octane. Generally it felt a little bit clunkier and less polished. To create a hair shader you needed to connect a few nodes and change modes in them. The Renderview window kind of worked like a viewport but not really. It didn’t feel well integrated into Houdini.
My assumption is that for someone that knows it really well, it may be as good as redshift or arnold, but the first impression is that it’s a step behind those two in terms of integration and polish.
How about pyro shader in houdini?
The price look attractive with all bundled software.
Is customer support good or you have to wait every half a year for a bug fix?
A lot of C4D user use Octane and create amazing renders. I’ve always think is not so realistic as V-Ray but make more “Movie” look catchy renders. I’m not a professional so I just say what I see.
