Richard Rosenman has announced the release of Particle Projection for Adobe After Effects, a new plugin for generating complex particle arrays projected through the use of a displacement layer. It works by generating a 2D grid of particles and then projecting them in 3D perspective using a displacement layer’s pixel luminance value. The brighter the pixel value, the greater the particle projection. The plugin costs $69.99 and you can find out more and download a free demo from Richard Rosenman’s website.
I wish he would port DOF Pro to After Effects instead of coming out with things like this. This is cool and all, and cheaper than Trapcode Form; but probably less features. Not sure if it would even be worth it.
If you listen closely you can hear the sound of thousands of vfx guys working on sci fi UI’s sighing in relief.
