New features in the latest version of the painting and VFX software include (since last reported):
- A new gradient tool with adjustable gradients, new gradient types and contour fill.
- Numeric entry throughout the program.
- Improved image scaling sampling.
- Improved crop tool.
- Callouts and vector objects.
- Puppy Ray for GPU is rewritten for higher quality rendering, with visible sun, a water plane with reflections and waves, improved sampling for better quality far and near, improved global illumination, bounce light, bump maps and more.
- A new media browserto manage and access many types of brushes.
- A new floating & resizeable color picker that remembers settings between instances.
- Improved curve and rotoscope tools with transformation handles, free transform on currently selected control points, shift-select points and onscreen keyframes.
- Several new filters, including: julia set rendering, water drops, shape bombing, bilateral filter, make normal map, fracture, worley noise, water caustics, and water ripples.
- Improved timeline with a larger preview
- Improved GUI responsiveness
- UI improvements including a new rounded look, a new colour picker, and 3 styles for sliders.
- New watercolour media
- Sprites in particle modeller
- A new object oriented API
- Much more.
1980’s called, they want their 3D program back
This video is misleading. considering it’s price Howler is an exceptional application for concept art of natural environments. Particle foliage brushes are extraordinary.
