Bionatics announced natFX, a 3D plant modeler using behavioral animation technology soon to be available for 3ds max. The new software enables users to model with only a few mouse clicks, realistic textured plants that take into account factors such as wood flexibility, leaf attachment strength and branch to trunk attachment. Using bio-computing technology, it allows for easy and quick animation of complex vegetation.
Bionatics will offer a series of products derived from their AMAP technology, including natFX for film/video, REALnat for 3D real-time environments, and EASYnat for architecture (Viz users). Scheduled release dates are: October for EASYnat and “before year’s end” for natFX. Price announced (for the Maya version of the software) is $2500 for natFX Base with 10 plants of your choice.
