A new plugin for 3ds Max that adds support for the Quite Ok Image format. QOI in an open-source lossless bitmap format that offers improved encoding and decoding speed compared to PNG’s but with comparable file sizes. Download the plugin for free on GitHub and read more about QOI on the project’s website.
Really very impressive results:

Why is it so poorly documented, what is with 16bit support and other PNG features, are they supported and so on? The saved images have 1/3 bigger, it is like fast saving PNG without compression -> what is then the advantage when it comes to the same file-size<->result?
In order not to look like it like a toy, one need really a published, detailed spec-sheet.
I mean not the 3dsmax Plugin, but the main development page.
QOI is 8-bit only. It’s intended as a reasonably well compressed runtime format with low processing overhead. The specification sheet is here: qoi-specification.pdf (qoiformat.org)
Thanks!
