QuiltiX: New Open-Source MaterialX Editor Now Available

Prism has announced the release of QuiltiX, an open-source MaterialX editor. The editor has been designed with a focus on the needs of artists, offering a customizable and user-friendly GUI to allow artists to view their materials using their preferred production renderer. This feature aims to assist in the identification of potential issues during the material creation phase.

QuiltiX is licensed under the Apache license, which allows for commercial use. This aligns with the continuing trend of open-source software in the tech industry, which encourages collaboration and innovation.

The editor can be integrated into existing studio pipelines like Prism, providing additional features such as library panels or publishing processes.

QuiltiX has been tested on Windows and is also compatible with Linux and Mac operating systems. Dependencies are provided for Windows, while Linux and Mac users will need to use their own USD/MaterialX builds.

Find out more on the Prism website.

They could totally make their own because it was the only way to integrate it properly in the pipeline…
If a new software was necessarily better than the previous one, we would know it.
