Quixel has released an update to Mixer, its tool for blending,painting and creating tileable PBR materials. Version 2019 introduces the Mask Stack, moving Mixer a step closer to being a fully fledged PBR material authoring application. According to Quixel, the Mask stack allows users to combine procedurals and scanned materials with custom sculpting and hand painting to allow for several possible workflows including fully procedural material creation, stylised textures, scan-based PBR materials from photos, terrain creation and more.
