according to nicholas fontas, bifrost implementation in 3ds max would be different from what we seen in maya 2019.2…we arent basically getting the fx stuffs, or may be some of it. ours would be more of procedural modelling and instancing.

Why would they do such a thing? That wouldn`t make any sense.

It’s Autodesk…

They want to keep that division between Max and Maya if they can, so Max for models, Maya for FX.

Now that i think about it, everything else would have been an surprise anyway. So again they are actively blocking 3dsmax from getting specific features because of company politics.
Thought we were past this. Guess not.Whatever…

No, you didnt get it right. You can see the official presentations when they are online.
Maya has already the FX part of bifrost (or what its out right now).
Bifrost port in 3dsmax already started. We have on the 3dsmax beta right now ALL Bifrost graph, this is ALL nodes as maya has. Now this needs to be hooked up (connected) with max, its not something that happens automatically or by magic. The most easy part has been connecting mesh manipulations and instancing system, so thats where max port of biforst graph has started.
Max team will create tools with UI, or modifier based that will use bifrost under the hood, to make it accessible to a bigger range of users. BUT at all times users will be able to access the graph if needed. They start by different arrays systems to instance at rendertime using Bifrost with huge performance.
All the FX connection is coming, as showed at Siggraph by the same Nicolas Fonta. But there is some work to be done in 3dsmax to expose Simulation parameters, or Volumetric representation on the viewport.

Guess i should have looked at the official roadmap first.
Anyway, thanks for clearing this up, Eloi. Guess it`s better to wait until the whole thing becomes official for 3dsmax, so we can see ourself.

Same statement every year from users who can’t accept the reality of max. Why hasn’t our bifrost fluids been developed to where bifrost in Maya has?. For obvious reasons, it was celebrate.
